September 13 | 10 a.m.–2 p.m. | Once an early Indiana homestead, Conner Prairie is Indiana’s first Smithsonian-affiliated museum. It is one of the largest attractions in the region and one of the most visited outdoor museums in the country. Come learn about this rapidly expanding part of Indianapolis that is home to 17 departments and more than a dozen different summer college internships! | |
September 20 | 10 a.m.–12 p.m. | Since 1988, August Mack has revolutionized how environmental consulting is performed. August Mack employs those with degrees in environmental science, geology, chemistry, mathematics, history, English, communications, and more. Join us on this new Field Trip Friday location to learn about careers you expect at an environmental firm and those outside the box careers you may not expect! | |
October 18 | 10 a.m.–12 p.m. | We are returning to the Indiana Statehouse, home of the Indiana General Assembly, Indiana State Supreme Court, and the Offices of the Governor and Lt. Governor! This building hosts internships with the governor's office and with both political parties within the Indiana House of Representatives and Indiana Senate. So many ways to get involved; come learn how! Application deadlines are October 31. | |
November 1 | Indianapolis International Airport / Federal Government Careers | 10 a.m–3 p.m. | Interested in careers with the Federal Government? How about aviation? Want to know what career opportunities are available and how to get started? Federal organizations that will be represented are:

Participants will learn at both the Carson Transit Center and IndyGo’s main headquarters, taking the bus in between. You'll learn about how multiple staff found their paths to IndyGo, as well as tour the headquarters. | |
March 28 | 10 a.m.–12 p.m. | Ultrasound, nuclear medicine technology, radiography? What are these majors? If you would like to learn more about these Health Professions Programs and see them in action, then this field trip is for you! Come learn about what programs are available at the IU School of Medicine—Health Professions Program and take a tour of labs and the fields of medicine available. | |
October 27 | Indiana Statehouse | 10 a.m.–12 p.m. | The Indiana Statehouse is more than a beautiful old building. It’s the home of dozens of different ways to work within state government. Come take a tour of this historic site, learn from early career professionals in state government, and find out how you can intern with the State of Indiana and become a future state employee! The next round of internship opportunities are live and due October 31. Here are just two! We will walk over from campus as a group, or you may pay for street parking at the building, if available. |
November 3 | Indianapolis Motor Speedway | 10 a.m.–12 p.m. | Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). The Brickyard. The Speedway. The Track. Whatever you call it, it’s known as the home of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing! And they will be hosting IU Indianapolis students to attend their Career and College Experience program. November 10 | Irsay Family YMCA | 10 a.m.–12 p.m. | Are you interested in the careers and majors found at the Irsay Family YMCA? This field trip will allow you the opportunity to explore and learn about how the Irsay Family YMCA makes an impact on the community and the ways you can find a future career at this facility or other facilities like it. All majors are invited to attend! |
January 19, 2024 | Indianapolis Zoo | 10 a.m.–12 p.m. | Have you ever wondered what type of jobs you can do at the Indianapolis Zoo beside taking care of animals? Well, here is your chance to find out! An added bonus for those attending is that each student will receive a pass to remain at the zoo and enjoy the exhibits for the remainder of the day. We'll meet with Indianapolis Zoo representatives from various departments to show us what majors have a home at the there. |

Their mission is to create extraordinary learning experiences across the arts, sciences, and humanities that have the power to transform the lives of children and families. To make this happen, they need employees and interns across a wide variety of majors. Join us for a fun behind-the-scenes look at what goes into the exhibits and all the "cool stuff" to see and do. |
April 5 | West Indianapolis Development Corporation |
| Ready to be part of a rapidly expanding part of the city? The West Indianapolis Development Corporation, located just southwest of campus, seeks to serve the community through programs that improve housing, business, and the environment. This is done through housing programs that provide safe, stable, affordable housing to low-income families and individuals by creating opportunities for neighborhood-serving businesses and by partnering with other resources in the community to improve the quality of life here. Come and see firsthand the work that is being done on Morris Street, which includes commercial spaces, rental housing, and the two new homes being built for home ownership opportunities. This will be a traveling tour of the neighborhood. Come learn how to make a difference! |
April 12 | Victory Field—Indianapolis Indians |
| Are you interested in learning more about Victory Field, The Indianapolis Indians, and the careers and majors within this industry? The White River State Park website describes, “The Indianapolis Indians are the professional Triple-A baseball club affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Indians play their home games at Victory Field, a 14,200-seat ballpark located in downtown Indianapolis and White River State Park. The venue opened in 1996 and has been named one of the best minor league ballparks in the United States by several national publications, including Baseball America and Sports Illustrated. Come to this exciting field trip to get a tour of the facility and hear about the many careers within this industry! |

Big Car Collaborative utilizes tools of culture and creativity to build community and social cohesion, helping to connect people as a way to boost quality of life. Formed in 2004 and based in Indianapolis, they also work in other communities and collaborate with artists from around the world. | February 17 | Eiteljorg Museum | 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. | The Eiteljorg tells the stories of the peoples of North America in all their diversity and complexity. Like all our local museums, there are a great many professional staff and interns working on the exhibits and the stories behind them. Located in White River State Park, this museum is also accessible via the White River Canal walkway, just east of Herron School of Art—no need to worry about where to park your car—just drive to campus and walk over. |
