- I started and finished my undergrad with a major in biology, but during my junior year, I began taking courses toward my secondary education certification to teach biology and chemistry.
Professional Experience:
- How long in ACD?: Since July 2021.
- What do you like about the work you do?: I love being a part of the team that helps students be successful! I also love learning and being part of the self-discovery journey for students. Advising combines these areas in a very personal way to support students in making and reaching goals for academics and life.
- Past jobs/experiences: Exploratory advisor, academic success coach, supplemental instruction coordinator, biology course coordinator, secondary education science teacher, and swim lessons instructor.
Advice to students: Take your academic and career journey one step at a time. You do not have to start college knowing all of the answers, but keep challenging yourself to learn and to grow as you figure out your best next step.
If you could be any major in your cluster, what would it be? Why?: Neuroscience. I really loved both biology and psychology courses and learning throughout my schooling journey and beyond. I would like to combine those two interest areas to learn more about the nervous system, its functions, and how it influences our behavior and learning.
Biography: I grew up in Jasper, Indiana, but my family and I have called Indianapolis home for many years. I have also lived and worked in Ohio and Arizona. My husband and I both work at universities, and we have elementary-aged children at home. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, playing board games, running, swimming, and baking.
