About the management B.S.B. major

Management is the study of leadership for the day-to-day operations of a business as well as the future direction a business may go to continue its stated mission. You'll motivate employees, build teams, shape corporate cultures, allocate people and resources, and create strategies to improve operations and achieve business goals. You'll also study a broad range of business topics and specializations to gain a big picture understanding of the corporate world.

Skills and abilities this major develops: leadership, team-building, strategic planning, and resource allocation.

Opportunities after graduation

Employment of management analysts is projected to grow 10% from 2022 to 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations. About 92,900 openings for management analysts are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as retirement (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2023).

According to the IUPUI (now called IU Indianapolis) First Destination Survey in 2023, the average starting salary for business graduates with a bachelor's degree was $59,687, and the median salary was $60,000.

The national median annual salary for management analysts was $99,410 in 2023 (Occupational Outlook Handbook).
